Terriers record nine goal game

Just when it looked like the Yorkton Terriers had broken out of their losing skid, they suffered a minor setback at the hands of the visiting Melfort Mustangs as Melfort edged out the Terriers 5-3 at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Sterling Bear opened the scoring for the Mustangs with a late first period powerplay goal to give Melfort a one goal lead which held for the first period.

Brayden Metz made it 2-0 for the Mustangs midway through the second period.

Jeremy Boyer lit up the scoreboard for the Terriers with a second period powerplay marker assisted by Justin Buzzeo and Riley Paterson.

Sean Aschim rounded out second period scoring to give Melfort a 3-1 lead going into the final frame.

Nathan Murray pulled Yorkton within one with a third period powerplay goal assisted by Boyer and Buzzeo.

Bear popped in what became the game winner, his second goal of the night

Zach Johnson added the insurance marker late in the period.

Clarke Breitkreuz tipped in the third goal for Yorkton with less than a minute remaining in regulation time assisted by Blaine Tendler.

Possibly smarting from the loss to Melfort or high on the adulation from the annual Yorkton Terrier Sportsman's Dinner, the Terriers came out on fire Sunday evening against the visiting Notre Dame Hounds. A five goal second period with a pair of goals in each of the first and third periods, saw the Terriers down the dazed Hounds 9-1 at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Boyer opened the scoring with a pair of first period goals. The first, a powerplay marker assisted by Buzzeo and Breitkreuz.

Ajay Moore scored the lone Notre Dame goal early in the second period.

Robbie Ciolfi scored Yorkton's third goal assisted by Brent Struble.

Buzzeo had a runaway second period with three goals. Boyer picked up three assists on Buzzeo's goals, while Tendler and Kelly Leismeister each claimed an assist.

Breitkreuz scored Yorkton's fourth second period goal assisted by Struble and Braeden Raiwet.

Breitkreuz notched his second of the game early in the final frame assisted by Ciolfi and Leismeister.

Paterson capped Terrier scoring with Yorkton's ninth goal of the game, a single handed marker.
