Local area teams are well decorated after a weekend of high school volleyball at the provincial and regional level. One provincial gold, three regional gold, three regional silver and a bronze were won by teams surrounding the Battlefords.

Although the North Battleford Comprehensive High School senior girls Vikings went winless at 5A provincials on the weekend they do deserve a tap on the back for hosting the event. "We set a new standard," said Vikings coach Sheila Gabert.

There was a good crowd on hand at the Battleford Arena for the first ever Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey game between the Battleford Beaver Blues and the Radisson Wheatkings.

They're a young team, but they gave a good showing at the Provincial championship. The senior girls' volleyball team at Bruno School hosted the 2010 Senior Girls 2A Volleyball Provincials November 19-20.

Midget AA Barons The Barons held their home tournament on the weekend and played some elite AA teams while earning one win. Friday, the Barons lost 4-3 to the Saskatoon Steel.
