YORKTON - The 20th edition of the Best of the Breeds Bull sale was held March 24 at Heartland Livestock Services.

The sale featured Charolais, Simmental, Gelbvieh, Red Angus and Black Angus bulls from;

* Forden Fairview Farm, Lyle and Leanne Forden, Ken and Twila Forden of Punnichy

* Black Ridge Angus Farm, John and Bonnie Moleski, Steve and Violet Moleski of Dysart

* Goodview Gelbvieh, Blair, Lorie, Courtney and Kelsey Bentz of Punnichy

* Harcourt Charolais, Doug, Tammy, Jennifer and Justin Harcourt of Quill Lake

* Twin Heritage Farms, The Kereluiks of Sheho

* Dogpatch Acres, Michael and Annette, Evan and Carley Zentner of Leroy.

When the bidding was complete Sunday the 38 Charolais bulls averaged $6,506.

The high seller was lot 9 from Dogpatch Acres. It sold for $14,500 going to Kelly Neufeld of Saskatoon.

Lot 7 from Harcourt Charolais brought $10,000 selling to Rod McLean, of Foam Lake.

The 15 Gelbvieh bulls averaged $6,866.

The top seller at $12,500 was Lot 78 Goodview Gelbvieh selling to Borderidge Gelbvieh, Cardston, Alta.

Lot 77, also from Goodview Gelbvieh sold for $11,000 to Cooley Farms, Windsor, MO, USA.

The 14 Black Angus bulls averaged $5,625

Lot 100 from Black Ridge Angus sold for $8,000 to Flying H Land & Livestock, Kelliher, while lot 98 from the same contributor also brought $8,000 from Flaman Cattle Co, Vibank, Sask.

The Red Angus offering of nine bulls averaged $5,666.

Lot 116 from Twin Heritage Farms sold for $7,500 going to Clayton Kruda of Jedburgh.

Lot 114 also from Twin Heritage Farms sold to Creekridge Farms of Willowbrook for $6,500.

The 32 Simmental 32 bulls averaged $6,695.

A Fullblood Simmental – lot 60 from Forden Fairview Farm sold for $12,000 to Vertical Edge Genetics, Bancroft, ID, USA.

Lot 52 from Forden Fairview Farm sold for $10,000 to Anderson Cattle Co. at Swan River.

The top-selling Purebred Simmental, Lot 70, from Forden Fairview Farm sold for $10,000 to Flying TL Livestock, of Earl Grey, Sask.

Lot 69, also from Forden Fairview farm sold for $9,750 to Jason Goudy of Stoughton, Sask.

Overall 108 bulls averaged $6,428.
