Outlook Community Garden Ready for Planting

Green-thumbed citizens invited to come pitch in Thursday evening

A group of Outlook residents hoping to begin a community garden in town have been busy preparing the plot and are now ready to begin planting.

Connie Achtymichuk and Glen Annand will be coordinating the planting and a call is being put out to volunteers to come out and assist.

Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 pm volunteers are invited to come check out the community garden on Selkirk Street (behind the post office) and help with the planting. Garth Weiterman, one of the project coordinators said, "The plot is all worked up and fertilized and ready to go."

Experienced gardeners and novices alike are welcome to come and participate. As plans continue to be made there is opportunity to help with the garden and share in the produce, as well as being part of an effort to grow vegetables for distribution through the food bank.

Gardeners and those who want to become gardeners are invited to come out on Thursday and be part of Outlook's first Community Garden. Bring gardening gloves and a hoe if you have one. "Everyone is welcome to come out and participate," Weiterman commented. "We'll put you to work."
