GX 94 Yorkton 4-H Regional Show and Sale Report
The annual Yorkton 4-H Regional Show and Sale were held last week as part of the Yorkton Exhibition.
The event saw 4-H Clubs from Goodeve, Good Spirit, Neudorf, Serath, Sheho and Springside arrive at the Yorkton Exhibition Grounds Tuesday for two days of events.
There were 40 females and 50 steers participating in the show judged by Krista Erixson of Clavet, Sk.
The Grand Champion Heifer, sponsored by Yorkton Coop Agro Center went to Wade Olynyk of the Goodeve 4-H Beef Club, while the Reserve Champion Heifer, sponsored by Crescent Creek Angus, went to Dale Weinbender of the Springside 4-H Beef Club.
The Grand Champion two-year old Cow, with calf at side went to an entry from Jeffery Lowe of the Goodeve 4-H Beef Club.
Lowe also took the Grand Champion three-year Old Cow Calf Pair sponsored by Trimac, as well as the Grand Champion Breeders Herd sponsored by Leons.
Thea Valstar of the Springside 4-H Beef Club captured the Grand Champion Steer, with Kierra Hawreluik of the Sheho 4-H Beef Club taking the Reserve Champion Steer.
Valstar’s Champion Steer weighed 1344lbs and sold for $6.00/lb to Yorkton Dodge.
Hawreliuk’s Reserve Champion Steer weighed 1329lbs and sold for $3.05/lb to Grasslands Grazing Coop.
Both 4-H members and parents enjoyed a presale BBQ sponsored by Yorkton Coop Association and Yorkton Auction Centre.

Kalvin and Maureen Werner and Family presented the Brennan Werner Memorial Award to Caitlin Fox of the Sheho 4-H Beef Club
The Yorkton Regional Sale was auctioned by Ryan Hurlburt of Heartland Livestock and the 4-H members had overwhelming support from many businesses both locally and in the surrounding area. There were some that purchased multiple steers, those being;
Maple Farm Equipment- 6 steers, Grain Millers- 4 Steers, Heartland Livestock-4 steers, Farrell Agencies-2 steers, Crop Production Services-2 steers, Yorkton New Holland- 2 steers, P&H, Yorkton-2 steers, and Altus Geomatics-2 steers.
