Senior Canora Cobras create special memory for minor hockey team

Highway 9 Predators learn valuable hockey lessons in fun game against senior team.

The Canora Cobras senior hockey team and the U15 Highway 9 Predators were recently the victims of unfortunate circumstances when both teams had their scheduled games cancelled over the January 21 to 23 weekend. But the Cobras saw an opportunity, and scheduled a fun game against the Predators on January 22 in Preeceville. According to reports from the game, it turned out to be a big hit. “The Cobras came through in a big way for the Predators. After a last-minute game cancellation for Preeceville Minor Hockey Day the Senior Cobras got together a group of players to have a pick up style scrimmage reminiscent of the old days of hockey when people just met up at the rink. There were smiles all around and it turned out to be a lot of fun.”

The Cobras stepped up and gave the U15 team a good challenge.

“Our players were excited to play the older skilled team,” said Jordan Vogel, Predators coach. “They were all smiles on the ice and seemed to have a lot of fun. The senior Cobras played it well, challenging the U15 team to step out of their comfort zone and adapt to a more skilled opponent, but they did not outplay us like they could have and were good sports.”
