Canora windup bonspiel promotes enjoyment of the game

After each team had played three games, the Ron Hoehn rink had accumulated the most points and won the bonspiel.

CANORA - The Canora Curling Club held its season windup bonspiel on March 23 and 24 with eight local rinks in the running.

As was stated on the Canora Curling Club Facebook page before the bonspiel, “Always the most fun had. Family teams, junior teams, senior teams, men’s teams, ladies’ teams, and any other mix of teams you can think of are all welcome!”

Teams played three games each, and the final order of finish was determined with the Brandon Draw scoring system. Teams were awarded two points for each end where they scored, five points if a game ended in a tie, and 10 points for each win.

When the final draw had come to a close and the points were tallied, the rink skipped by Ron Hoehn topped the standings. Joining Hoehn on the winning foursome were: Clarence Homeniuk (third), Brian Herriges (second) and Maxine Stinka lead.

Other rinks entered in the bonspiel were: Bill Foreman, Bob Kolodziejski, Clayton Malanowich, Travis Ostafie, Vern Schick, Darryl Stevenson and Darcy Zielinski.
