Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report: Stolen ATV

RCMP received a complaint that an ATV was stolen from outside a residence in the RM of Good Lake. Police recovered the ATV on Canora Beach Road three days later.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 34 calls from July 7 to July 14, including an assault in Canora. Police attended and learned there was an altercation between two males. The matter was resolved without criminal charges.

CANORA- The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 34 calls from July 7 to July 14, some of which included: one assault, one theft, 12 traffic offences, one failure to comply with conditions, two frauds, one missing person, two failures to appear in court, seven other provincial calls, one impaired operation, two uttering threats, and one break-and-enter.

Stolen ATV

On July 7, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint that an ATV was stolen from outside a residence in the RM of Good Lake. Police recovered the ATV on Canora Beach Road three days later. 

Unwanted visitors

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on July 7 of two suspicious males walking around on the complainant’s property in Canora. The two males were driving a silver Dodge truck. Police attended and were unable to locate the vehicle or the two males. Safety first

On July 9, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a side-by-side style ATV being operated in Canora with the driver not wearing a helmet. The Canora RCMP wants to remind the public that helmets and eye protection must be worn when operating an ATV, which also includes two-seater UTV’s (side-by-side). The fine for not wearing a helmet and eye protection is $100.

Fight resolved

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on July 10 to a report of an assault in Canora. Police attended and learned there was an altercation between two males. The matter was resolved without criminal charges.

Vehicle trouble

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a stolen vehicle complaint on July 11. Police learned that the stolen vehicle was lent to a friend and impounded by police in another jurisdiction. 

Cheques stolen

On July 11, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of cheques being stolen and deposited into an unknown account. A suspect has been identified and police continue to investigate.

Elder abuse

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint on July 12 of elder abuse occurring in Canora. The complainant reported they were being taken advantage of by a family member who was living at the residence and wouldn’t leave when asked to do so. Police attended and mediated the issue. The family member left the residence without incident.
