Canora/Sturgis RCMP activity report: Showing off

RCMP were dispatched on July 1 to a report of a male doing burnouts with his vehicle in Sturgis. He was located and given a warning for his poor driving behaviour.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 30 calls from June 30 to July 7, including a report of a small bear roaming around in Good Spirit Provincial Park. Police determined there was no risk to public safety.

CANORA- The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 30 calls from June 30 to July 7, some of which included: one assault, three mischiefs, one theft, nine traffic offences, two traffic collisions, five failing to comply with conditions, one impaired operation, and three other provincial calls.

Park bear

On July 1, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of a small bear roaming around in Good Spirit Provincial Park. Police were already in the park at the time of the complaint and determined there was no risk to public safety.

Railway stop

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP stopped a vehicle south of Sturgis on Highway 9 for failing to stop at an active railway crossing on July 1. The driver was found to have consumed alcohol and was issued a 72-hour driving suspension.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on July 1 to a report of a male doing burnouts with his vehicle in Sturgis. The male was located by members and given a warning for his poor driving behaviour.

Boating under the influence

On July 2, Yorkton Traffic Services conducted a boat patrol on Good Spirit Lake. Numerous tickets were issued to boaters for offences under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act.

Co-op incident

A hit-and-run was reported to the Canora/Sturgis RCMP on July 6 that is believed to have occurred in the parking lot of Gateway Co-op in Canora.

Noisy visitor

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated female banging on the door of a residence in Sturgis on July 6. Police attended the residence; however, the female had already left.

Hide-and-seek

On July 6, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a missing toddler in Canora. The complainant called back advising the toddler was located hiding behind the furnace.
