CCC junior boys basketball team continues to win

Cougars run winning streak to nine with home victory over Kamsack

CANORA - The Canora Composite School Cougars junior boys basketball team has done a lot of winning this season, and that trend continued on Feb. 2 with a 42-34 victory over the visiting Kamsack Spartans.

The first half was tight and low-scoring throughout, with no team going ahead by more than five points. The score was tied 15-15 at halftime.

The Cougars gradually took control in the second half, with a lead of 33-26 after the third quarter. The home team led by as many as 12 points in the final quarter, before Kamsack sank the final four points of the contest.

“The game itself was fairly uneventful from our point of view, perhaps our worst effort of the year,” assessed Cougars Coach Kim Eiteneier.

So far this season, Canora’s records sits at a perfect eight wins and zero losses.

“We have not played Yorkton Regional or Melville this year and they are usually the top teams in the division,” added Eiteneier. “We go to Hudson Bay on Feb.10 and 11 for a tournament and to Preeceville on Feb. 15-16 for Conference Playoffs. If we win the first game we will advance to District Playoffs in Preeceville on March 3-4.”
