Grade 4 CJES student/athletes shine at GSSD Showcase

Competing against athletes from 26 schools across the Good Spirit School Division, Canora Junior Elementary students brought home three medals and numerous personal bests.

 

CANORA- On Wednesday, June 11, Grade 4 athletes from Canora Junior Elementary School attended the Grade 4 and 5 GSSD Showcase Track Meet held at Century Field in Yorkton. Competing against athletes from 26 schools across the Good Spirit School Division, our students demonstrated great skill and determination.

Athletes who met or exceeded the division’s standards earned a coveted golden ticket, recognizing their hard work and performance.

CJES is proud of how well our students represented both themselves and our school. Most athletes achieved personal bests, and two athletes returned home with medals:

Skyler Casselman won a gold medal in the shot put, and also placed 14th in the long jump.

Jolene Wegner was a double medal winner, earning the silver medal in the 100m and the bronze in the long jump.

Other participants’ results are as follows:

Willow Smith – 10th in high jump, 12th in 100m

Keira Owchar – 14th in 800m, 21st in 100m, 26th in long jump

Aliannah Herriges – 20th in 100m, 36th in long jump

Trevor Keyowski – 15th in 800m

Liam Schwartz – 20th in 800m

Jacob Prychak – 25th in shot put, 29th in 100m, and also competed in the long jump

Riley Drobot – 36th in 100m, and also competed in shot put

The Relay Team representing CJES was made up of: Jolene Wegner, Aliannah Herriges, Jacob Prychak, and Keira Owchar
