Invermay student athletes excel at pre-district competition

Invermay School representatives produced numerous finishes at or near the top of the standings at the pre-district meet held in Yorkton, looking to qualify for districts

INVERMAY - Invermay School representatives had numerous finishes at or near the top of the standings at the pre-district meet held in Yorkton on May 13 looking to qualify for districts, also scheduled for Yorkton.

Athletes participated in a variety of events in different age categories. Competitors were divided into two separate competitive groups with Invermay, Canora and Sturgis in one group and Kamsack, Preeceville and Norquay participating in the other group.

The top two in the pee wee and bantam categories in the Eastland Lakes East and Eastland Lakes West move on to Districts. The top four in the intermediate, junior and senior categories qualify for Districts.

Invermay had a number of athletes who were successful in qualifying for districts.

Aron Cudal was the winner in senior boys triple jump, long jump and javelin. Jesse Grychowski placed second in all three events.

Angelo Ferenial finished first in bantam boys long jump and second in hurdles. Gwyn Cabungcal won the senior girls hurdles.

Taelynn Maier was first in bantam girls high jump and shotput, with Halo Engele close behind in second place.

Bailey Maier placed first in junior girls high jump and second in long jump.

Michael Mesias finished first in peewee boys long jump and discus, just ahead of Weston Glas in second place.

Hallie Pozniak finished first in senior girls long jump and second in shotput.

April Grychowski placed first in intermediate girls triple jump. Madeline Glas won bantam girls javelin and discus.

Kashton MacLean took the top spot in peewee boys triple jump.

Marissa Fidek finished first in intermediate girls shotput and javelin. Also in intermediate girls, Cassandra Ponte finished third in discus, third in javelin and fourth in shotput. 

Lance Corpuz won the junior boys shotput, and placed second in javelin and third in discus. In that same discus event, Chance Enge grabbed first place. Enge also finished third in shotput.

Janah Regidor won the peewee girls discus, with Cassidy Bosovich in second place.

In junior girls discus, Irish Ferenial took first place, and finished fourth in hurdles.

Still in junior girls, Clouie Cabungcal placed third in the triple jump, third in hurdles, and fourth in long jump.

Rachel Enge won first in senior girls javelin, second in triple jump, and third in discus.

Nathan Minhinnick placed second in senior boys hurdles and second in discus. Also in senior boys, Remy Fidek took second in the shotput and third in discus.

Jam Regidor finished second in junior girls shotput. In peewee boys shotput, Kyle Pena also finished second.

In intermediate boys discus, Avyn Seerey came in third and Bracyn Konkel placed fourth.
