With the provincial run at an end, Pats look forward to league playoffs

PREECEVILLE — The Preeceville Pats U18 hockey team battled hard in its first round of provincial playoffs but came up short to end its run in front of a home town crowd.

The first game of provincials had Preeceville traveling to Wynyard on February 11, but it was not a positive beginning with a 4 to 3 loss. Scoring for Preeceville were: Spencer Leech, Logan Wolkowski of Canora and Zander Purdy. Assists were by: Seth Hort, Hunter Lamb of Canora and Hudsyn Nelson.

Game two was held in Preeceville on February 13. Preeceville came out hungry for the win and would not be denied. They skated hard and won the second game with a final score of 4 to 3. The win forced a 10-minute tie breaker mini-game right after the main game. Preeceville was however denied in the tiebreaker game and Wynyard was the first one to score which concluded the game and the series.

Scoring for Preeceville, were: Spencer Leech (two goals), Trever Geistlinger and Tomas Hauber of Canora. Assists were by Hunter Lamb, Logan Wolkowski and Rhett Ludba, all of Canora, as well as Hudsyn Nelson and Kaiden Masley.

“Provincials was a good experience for us, and we played extremely well in front of our home crowd. It was a hard fought battle but in the end only one team can move on. We now look forward to playoffs and bringing home the A side banner in our league,” said Jesse Nelson, coach.
