Harv’s Café Wins Online Chamber Contest

Eatery voted 'Best Decorated Business'

A popular downtown restaurant in Outlook was the winning business in an online voting contest organized by the Outlook & District Chamber of Commerce.

Last month, the Chamber launched a contest on its Facebook page that asked the public to vote for a local business that they felt had the best Christmas decorations.  Every vote online accomplished two things; one, it entered participants into a draw for an impressive gift basket, and two, the Chamber dedicated $1 per vote to give to the Outlook & District Food Bank on behalf of the winning business.

Once the votes were tallied up, the winning business with the best Christmas decorations as decided by the voting public was Harv’s Outlook Café.  In addition, restaurant manager Angelica Steinson was also the lucky recipient of the gift basket from the Chamber of Commerce.

With its multiple Christmas trees, strings of lights and even some eye-catching holiday artwork drawn up on the windows, perhaps it’s not so hard to see why people decided to cast their vote for Harv’s.

On Wednesday, January 10, Troy Simonson and Hannah Taylor, on behalf of the Chamber, stopped by the restaurant to make the presentations.  Simonson handed Steinson her overflowing gift basket packed with goodies and cool products, while Taylor presented restaurant owner Harv Haugen with a cheque for $300, made out to the Outlook & District Food Bank in the name of the restaurant, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce.

The success of the contest, which spurred a number of locations in Outlook to go all out in decorating and showing off a festive visual spirit, perhaps may mean it will make a return next December to see which will be the next winning business.
