A woman from Ontario who had come to know the late Frances McLean of Outlook recently wrote a letter to the New Pool Committee, along with a donation to the project made in memory of her departed friend.

Elizabeth Holmes of Sudbury writes,

“I met Frances McLean on one of my train trips across the country - train trips to visit my late mother in Kamloops.

Frances was one of the most amazing women I have met. And she spoke of her love of swimming in the town of Outlook.

I had always hoped to visit her there - the name intrigued me, for one thing.

We wrote some letters to each other but then ‘life happened’ and there was a long gap.

I recently Googled her name and read her obituary, so in memory of Frances, I make this donation to the pool.”

With her letter, Ms. Holmes enclosed a cheque for $100 to support the project and honor her friend.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the more emotional occurrences to take place in the course of fundraising for the new swimming pool venture.
