Canora/Sturgis RCMP lay charges following search warrant in Stenen

Property seized includes a truck, multiple recreational vehicles, and trailers previously reported stolen from the Yorkton area.

Canora/Sturgis RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the outskirts of the community of Stenen, Saskatchewan on April 25

CANORA - On April 25, 2022, Canora/Sturgis RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the outskirts of the community of Stenen, Saskatchewan, in the RM of Clayton, in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Scott Schewigert, 50, from Stenen, Saskatchewan was arrested at the residence and is charged with:

-       6 counts, Possession of property obtained by crime, Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

-       4 counts, Tampering with a Vehicle Identification Number Section 353.1(1) of the Criminal Code,

-       1 count, Unsafe storage of a Firearm Section 86(3) of the Criminal Code,

-       1 count, Breach of Undertaking Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code,

He will appear in Canora Provincial Court on June 2, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

RCMP units involved in the search warrant execution and investigation include: Canora and Kamsack RCMP Detachments, Yorkton Forensic Identification Section, Yorkton and Regina RCMP General Investigation Section.
