Kamsack Nursing Home residents enjoy trip to local farm

The slightest touch can say a thousand words

KAMSACK - On Tuesday, September 14, eight residents from the Kamsack Nursing Home, along with recreation staff Karen Rubletz, Marianne Francis and Patty Witzko, via the Kamsack Handibus, drove out to “Ravenheart Farms” located northeast of Kamsack.

Recreation Coordinator, Karen Rubletz, commented on how enjoyable the field trip was for all involved.

“Owner/operators Carol Marriott and Melva Armstrong welcomed us all and gave us the history and names of the six equine-assisted learning horses,” reported Rubletz. “After a demonstration of some tricks Carol brought Mystic, a Shetland pony, to the residents so they could pat him and feed most of the horses some carrots and apples.  They graciously gave the residents cookies and juice.  It was wonderful weather that afternoon and a great time was enjoyed by all. It was greatly appreciated by staff and residents.”

“We love it when our local seniors come out to visit the farm,” shared Ravenheart founder, Carol Marriot. “Many of our visitors grew up on farms with horses and visits like this often bring back fond memories for our Elders.”
