KAMSACK — A group of eight students from Kamsack attended the University of Regina Intermediate and Senior honour bands, joining approximately 200 other students from across Saskatchewan in this musical event.

Selected through a process of recommendation by their director Darren Kitsch, and subsequent approval by the University, these students were chosen to participate in the honour bands. The Feb. 2 to Feb. 4 event provided a platform for these young musicians to engage in collaborative musical endeavours, spending a day-and-a-half immersed in rehearsals alongside peers from various corners of the province.

Throughout the weekend, the participating students dedicated roughly 12 hours to learning five distinct musical compositions and fine-tuning their performance skills. The culmination of their efforts was showcased during a concert held on Feb. 4 afternoon at the University of Regina's Riddel Theater.

Beyond the musical aspect, the event offered an invaluable opportunity for the students to interact with fellow enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds who share a common passion for music. For the students of Kamsack, the experience aimed to infuse renewed energy and inspiration into their local band program, which will also be visiting Mount Rushmore in the future.
