KAMSACK - Madge Lake, renowned for its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities, has seen a surge in the popularity of pickleball since its introduction in the summer of 2022. Spearheaded by the Friends of Madge Lake, the initiative to refurbish the courts and introduce regular play times has resulted in a thriving pickleball community in the area.

Following the replacement of nets as part of the ongoing court refurbishment project, enthusiasts flocked to the newly improved facilities. Initially, up to 14 people would gather at the courts to engage in friendly matches and enjoy the sport. Recognizing the need for player development, the community organized two days of lessons, which were met with overwhelming success as all available spots were promptly filled.

As fall arrived, the pickleball community transitioned indoors, making use of the available space for three courts. From September to the end of April, two nights of indoor play were scheduled each week, accommodating up to 20 players at a time. The introduction of indoor sessions proved instrumental in attracting new participants to the game, who were fortunate to receive guidance and mentorship from experienced players.

Building on the success of the previous year, the community is excited to announce the arrangement of instructors for two days of lessons in the coming summer. The deadline for registration is set for June 1.

In addition to the structured lessons, the summer season offers regular play opportunities at the lake courts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The community emphasizes its commitment to inclusivity, welcoming players of all skill levels. Novices can rest assured knowing that experienced players will be present to offer guidance and support as they learn the intricacies of the game.

The Friends of Madge Lake, in collaboration with Pickleball Kamsack, encourage interested individuals to visit their Facebook page for any updates or changes to the playtime schedule. By leveraging the power of social media, they aim to keep the community well-informed and engaged.
