Town of Kamsack issues fire ban

As of May 9, all fires are prohibited within the Town of Kamsack until further notice.

KAMSACK — The Town of Kamsack has issued a complete fire ban.

"Effective on May 9, 2023 all fires will be prohibited throughout the municipal boundaries of the Town of Kamsack," said a notice posted on the town's Voyent Alert system. "This ban will remain in effect until further notice."

As of May 9, there are 19 wildfires burning in the province, mostly in the north. Of those, 13 are considered contained.

"To help further reduce the risk of fires in town, the KVFD [Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department] will also be conducting controlled burns," the town said on its Facebook account.
