Town of Norquay hosts first annual fall festival

NORQUAY - On the afternoon of Saturday, October 16, Norquay’s Main Street was transformed into a fall festival that rivaled a scene from a Hallmark movie. The fact that the event ran so smoothly was all the more impressive knowing that the ambitious undertaking was put together in just one month by the visionary and talented group of professionals at Norquay’s Hwy 49 Chamber of Commerce.

Under ideal weather conditions, the event saw residents and visitors of all ages partaking in the festivities that ran from 1 p.m. to dusk.

Families were treated to horse-drawn wagon rides around town, and children enjoyed horseback rides, bouncy castles, airbrush tattoos, old fashioned carnival games with prizes, cotton candy, popcorn, and mini golf. The bouncy castle area also featured a special appearance by two Paw Patrol characters.

Adults commented on the beautiful fall decorations and displays that lined Main Street, and many perused the variety of artisan and farmers market vendors.

At the beer garden, the tables were full and it was standing room only. Enjoying a beverage in the warmth of the autumn afternoon, folks shared some good belly laughs as they watched a live performance by local comedian, “Katrina.”

“What a great day for our 1st Annual Norquay Fall Festival,” said Nicole Korpusik on a Facebook post following the event. “I am so grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered and came out to enjoy this wonderful day! A big shout out to the higher powers for ensuring we had the most perfect weather possible! The Norquay Banner Project brought tears, the cider was delicious, the kids were endlessly entertained at the Co-op Kids Carnival, the horses were a hit, vendors ran out of food and stock and bingo went into an overtime, extra game due to a three- way blackout tie. It was a wonderful day so thank you again to everyone who came out to spend the day with us!”
