Dialing 911 is a quick efficient way for people to summon help when they encounter an emergency situation which requires the police, the fire department and/or the ambulance immediately.
Calling for a non-emergency, a prank or a carelessly dialed 911 call interrupts the 911 service for someone who is in an emergency situation and needs immediate help.
This can be avoided if everyone remembers when to call 911, how it works, and what number to call when people are wanting to contact the police for non-emergency assistance?
The answers to these questions are found in the pamphlet called "FALSE 911 Calls". "F" Division RCMP is initiating an awareness program which will see this pamphlet distributed to various communities around Saskatchewan in the next couple of weeks.
Use 911 to report any emergency situation where police (crime in progress), fire (car accident, building fire) or an ambulance (medical emergency) is required immediately.
In an non-emergency, RCMP in Saskatchewan can be contacted at the detachment which serves your community or by calling 310-RCMP (310-7267).
