1. Terriers win it all (tie) Yorkton burst with community pride in May when the Yorkton Terriers captured the Royal Bank Cup as Junior ‘A’ champions.

For Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit joining the provincial cabinet as Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health was certainly the highlight of 2014. Ottenbreit said as an MLA he always had a voice for constituents.

For Yorkton-Melville member of Parliament Garry Breitkreuz, the theme of 2014 was change. This year, the seven-term MP announced his retirement.

Looking back at 2014 Yorkton Mayor Bob Maloney said the highlight was pretty easy to pick. “Turning the sod on the Parkland College building,” he said in his year-end interview with Yorkton This Week.
