Women in Yorkton will have a chance to learn about moving past their personal pain at a special event at a local ministry.

The DreamCentre is hosting a “ladies only” coffee house evening on Sept. 28 at their Myrtle Avenue address. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Coffee and desserts will be offered. Admission is free.

“It’s a casual environment,” said Rachelle Sawatsky, director of the DreamCentre. “This event is a first for us.”

The coffee house, which is titled “Fall Re-New-Al,” will feature a guest speaker from Montreal: Anna Rust.

“I’m sharing how to get unstuck from your past,” Rust said.

Rust has been speaking about overcoming your pain and the power of forgiveness for decades. She’s traveled across the country and around the world meeting people and sharing her story.

“We need to understand where people are coming from,” she said.

Rust is no stranger to life’s struggles. She’s been through divorce, her daughter was born prematurely, and she’s fought through a cancer diagnosis.

“Life goes on,” she said.

Rust said people have to decide if they want to be victims or victors when they face struggles. It all comes down to a person’s outlook.

“Bad attitude is like a flat tire,” she said. “If you don’t change it, you won’t move forward.”

Rust credits her faith in God for giving her the strength to rise above her struggles.

“Accept God’s love,” she said.

Sawatsky is excited to have Rust speak at the DreamCentre. She hopes women from every background attend.

“The DreamCentre’s goal has been to [be open] to marginalized people,” she said. “Anyone is welcome.

“I know they’ll be able to relate to [Anna].”

Rust wants the Yorkton audience to take her message of forgiveness to heart.

“Hurt people hurt people,” she said. “Free people free people.

“If you’re hurting, you need to be free.”

Rust will also speak in Rocanville and Saskatoon.
