Aging health facilities assessed

Conceptual planning for new health facilities in Canora and Yorkton is progressing on schedule, reports the Sunrise Health Region.

Last week, consultants from Cannon Design conducted engineering assessments of the facilities up for replacement: Canora Gateway Lodge, Canora Hospital, and Yorkton Regional Health Centre.

The design firm has also been meeting with former clients and patients to learn more about the functioning of the facilities for consideration in determining the priorities of the new building projects. Data gathered from the public survey hosted on the Sunrise Health Region website will also be taken into account.

That survey has been temporarily suspended during the provincial election, but will be back online Nov. 8, after the provincial vote.

The conceptual planning process is nearing completion of the first of its four stages, the "current state assessment." Three more phases focusing on client experiences, facility function, and design/staffing/cost will be undertaken before a final report is submitted to the Ministry of Health in January.
