A 36-year-old man from Surrey, B.C. accused of possession of a large amount of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking is out of jail on $15,000 bail following an appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court Monday.
On September 12, members of the Saskatchewan Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) stopped Shane McQue approximately two kilometres west of Moosomin in a vehicle pulling a trailer.
A subsequent search produced 278 pounds of cannabis, a small amount of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency according to an RCMP press release.
Under the conditions of the bail order agreed to by McQue's defence attorney, who appeared by phone from B.C., and the federal crown, represented by David Rusnack the accused must report to a bail supervisor in Surrey within seven days and once per week subsequently, must not leave B.C. without permission or to appear in court, must not possess or consume non-prescription drugs, must not possess firearms or weapons of any kind and must surrender or not apply for a passport.
The defendant told the Court he does not own any weapons and does not possess a passport and agreed to abide by all the conditions of his release.
