An annual ratepayers meeting was held at the hut on Wednesday evening to review what's been happening around the village and plan for the future.

An annual ratepayers meeting was held at the hut on Wednesday evening to review what's been happening around the village and plan for the future. Town administrator, Joan Kerr, our Mayor, Marvin Horachek and counciller, Cara Naylor were in attendance. The agenda included much discussion on the excess water levels and pumping operations to control it, mowing and grass, animals at large, a fee increase for water and sewer services, and the need for another council member to mention a few items. Coffee and sweets were served to close out the evening.

Blue Bootie congratulations are sent out to grandparents,Chris (Andersen) and Larry Topliss, to Dad and Mom, Jared and Heidi Topliss, and big brother, Hayden Lawrence, on the arrival of a bouncing baby boy, Nathan Anders, born June 16 in Yorkton. Auntie Charla Topliss of Red Deer, AB made a quick trip home to Yorkton on the weekend to met her new nephew, Nathan.

James Talbot took part in the Grenfell Relay for Life on June 17 as a way to celebrate being cancer-free for 10 years. Lucille (Andersen) Stradeski from Grenfell, cancer-free for 12 years, joined with him to complete the survivor's lap, the first lap to begin the 12 hour Relay for Life cancer walk. There was food, music, entertainment, raffles and silent auctions going on all night in conjunction with the Relay itself. Another former Dubucite that took part in the survivor lap was Larry Parrott of Grenfell who began a battle with Cancer exactly a year ago. Congratulations, to each of you and the many others in our communities, on your strength and determination to beat this disease.

Sherry Moller and hubby, Al Chatigny, of Maple Ridge, BC were Saturday to Wednesday visitors over Father's Day weekend with her parents, Earle and Nina Moller.

A carload from Dubuc attended a Camp O'Neil Fundraiser held at the Stockholm Catholic Church basement on Sat., June 18. Approximately 160 people attended the event. There was a silent auction of many donated items happening throughout the evening as well as a couple raffles. The banquet was delicious and bountiful. The entertainment, Colby Nargang of Regina, with a tribute to Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley, was excellent.

Marian and Rollie Nordell fom Turtleford visited with Mary Forsberg on Sun., June 19. Marian is a first cousin to the late Eric Forsberg. The Nordells report that their region of Saskatchewan is needing rain... the fields, crops and gardens are very dry.

Ray Fuchs from Grayson was a visitor at the Hut for coffee row recently. We always welcome visitors - the more the merrier.

Allan Schick of Sedley, formerly of Dubuc, passed away June 21, 2011 in Regina at the age of 70 after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer. Sympathy of the community is extended to his wife, Lois and their four daughters, Tracey (Conrad) Sparrowhawk, Tanna (Wayne) Chase, Taralee (Doug) Runge and Tamera (Kristen) Sparrowhawk and 12 grandchildren. Friends and former neighbours from the area attended the memorial service held at Regina Funeral Home on Hwy #1 East in Regina on June 28.

22 people were treated to coffee and cake by Don Bell on Sat., June 25 to celebrate his milestone birthday. Ellen and Ted Bateman from Grayson and Loretta and Barry Common of Esterhazy were special out of town guests along with the regulars for this special occassion. Best wishes and a big thank-you for including us in your celebrations, Don!

Jim and Vivian Talbot motored to Regina to attend the grade 8 farewell grad ceremony from Dr Hanna elementary school for their granddaughter, Jayme Markwart. The evening concluded with a chocolate fountain and goodies. A few days later, they were back in Regina for the Thom Collegiate grade 12 commencement exercises, banquet and prom for their grandson, Colton Markwart. Darla (Talbot) Bailey of Hazlet and Terra, Shane, Ashalee and Riley Talbot also enjoyed visiting at the family BBQ held for Colton at the home of his parents, Dayna (Talbot) and Pat Markwart.
