The eighth contract in the extended development of the new water treatment plant in Yorkton was approved unanimously by Council at its regular meeting Monday.

The contract covers "work consisting of construction of an asphalt surfaced access road, parking lot and two concrete retaining walls."

"Administration followed the tender policy and to entice more bidders, tendered the project with the Russell Drive Reconstruction Project and notified other qualified paving contractors throughout the province. Due to the extreme wet year last year and the progressive nature of the province, the city has obtained only one bid," said Michael Buchholzer, Director of Environmental Services with the City.

"Upon review with our consultants, the bid is within the pre-bid estimate and Administration recommends award."

The lone tender came from Fedorowich Construction Ltd. for $462,423, with the project having a contingency of $37,577 for a total construction budget of $500,000.
