Police have laid charges related to the theft of two antique cars and issued an arrest warrant for one of the suspects.
Jessica Ann Kopan, 20, of Yorkton; Darwin Blaze Mogenson, 23, of Watrous; and Blain Gilbert Gaudet, 30, of Melville each face one count of break, enter and theft over $5,000 for stealing a 1976 Dodge Dart and a 1969 Pontiac Firebird two weeks ago.
Mogenson is also charged with trafficking stolen property and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.
Gaudet is also charged with trafficking and breach of probation and is the subject of an arrest warrant.
Between September 9 and 16, the two vehicles went missing from a storage Quonset located about 22 kilometres southwest of Yorkton. A trail camera captured three suspects breaking in and initially taking pictures of the cars. They later returned with dually truck and flatbed trailer and removed the antiques.
On September 19, police recovered the Firebird from a Quonset off York Road in an industrial area of Yorkton. The next day they found the Dart at an abandoned farm north of Grenfell.
"The recovery of these vehicles were a concerted effort amongst Yorkton Rural RCMP, Yorkton Municipal RCMP, Yorkton Provincial GIS, Saskatoon RCMP, Saskatoon Provincial GIS, Indian Head RCMP and a special thank you to the media and the general public for their assistance," a press release stated.
Kopan appeared in Yorkton provincial court Monday and was remanded in custody.
Mogenson is scheduled to make his first appearance in Saskatoon court today.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gaudet is asked to call the Yorkton rural RCMP detachment at 306-786-4500 or their local police service.
