Apartment plan rezone complete

An application to rezone 253 Bradbrooke Drive from C-4 Neighbourhood Commercial to R-3 Medium Density Residential, received second and third reading at the regular meeting of Council Monday.

An application to rezone 253 Bradbrooke Drive from C-4 Neighbourhood Commercial to R-3 Medium Density Residential, received second and third reading at the regular meeting of Council Monday.

The amendment was made "to accommodate future development of two, three storey, 32-unit apartment dwellings (64 units in total)," explained Michael Eger, Planner with the City.

"The neighbouring properties consist of multi-unit residential, institutional and commercial land uses. The current zoning allows for development of smaller commercial operations, including apartments with main floor commercial activity. Given the proximity of this site to the regional health centre, this would be the highest and best use of the property. However, there has been minimal interest from developers to acquire these lands for neighbourhood commercial use. Further, the proposed development of three-storey apartment dwellings is complementary to surrounding land uses," said Eger.
