Yorkton police are tight-lipped on the details of an armed robbery last week as they close in on a suspect.

"At this point we're real close," said Sgt. Rob Laurent, Yorkton municipal RCMP detachment commander.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on August 29, members of the local detachment responded to a call that a lone armed bandit had hit a pharmacy on Bradbrooke Drive.

The heavily disguised individual entered the business brandishing a long-barreled gun and a knife and demanded prescription medication.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of prescription medication and fled the business. Police are not releasing what kinds of drugs were taken.

Laurent would not confirm or deny rumours that the suspect is female.

As of press time yesterday, the investigation was ongoing.
