Armed robbery attempt at Saltcoats

Police are looking for two suspects who tried to rob the Saltcoats Credit Union at gunpoint last week.

At 1:57 p.m. on January 8, two men entered the bank with a firearm, but for some undisclosed or unknown reason, fled on foot before getting any money. Yorkton rural RCMP immediately instigated a manhunt aided by the Yorkton municipal, Roblin, Esterhazy and Kamsack detachments, the provincial General Investigations Section, RCMP Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services.

Good Spirit School Division immediately put Saltcoats School in lockdown while police searched for the suspects.

They are described as as being a 5’5” 5’9” tall and believed to be armed and dangerous. The first man was wearing two hoodies, a light grey one under a dark grey one, black balaclava with snowflakes, blue jeans and white running shoes. The other suspect wore a black zip up hoodie with red writing and  white string, light blue jeans, black shoes with white soles and a black balaclava.
