Armed robbery in Springside

RCMP are seeking two male suspects involved in another rural armed robbery on Friday afternoon. At approximately 3:33 pm on September 23, Yorkton Rural RCMP were dispatched to the Cornerstone Credit Union branch in Springside.


RCMP are seeking two male suspects involved in another rural armed robbery on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:33 pm on September 23, Yorkton Rural RCMP were dispatched to the Cornerstone Credit Union branch in Springside. Two suspects, one of them armed with a long-barreled firearm, had already escaped with an unreported amount of cash in a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck. The vehicle was found abandoned later that day in the Good Spirit Lake District.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police have released the following descriptions of the two suspects. Suspect one is said to be approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall, approximately 130-140 lbs, with a slim build. He wore a white hooded sweatshirt, black track pants with no elastic bottoms, and black running shoes. A camouflage balaclava was worn over his face during the robbery.

Suspect two is described as 5'6" to 5'8" tall with a slim build. He wore a black shirt, navy or dark colored jeans with yellow stitching, and white running shoes. Suspect two disguised his face with a black balaclava.
Police had no updates to report by press time.

It was the second armed robbery of a Cornerstone Credit Union branch in less than a month. On August 25, a male suspect carrying a firearm made off with a quantity of cash from the credit union's Theodore branch. No arrests have been reported in that case. It is unknown if the two robberies are related.
