Police are seeking a male suspect responsible for an armed robbery of the Theodore branch of Cornerstone Credit Union last Thursday.

At 3 pm on August 25, Yorkton Rural RCMP were called to Theodore by employees of the credit union. A man had reportedly held up the financial institution with a firearm and escaped with an undisclosed quantity of cash by the time police arrived.

"Our staff were all safe. They were certainly rattled, but safe," said Cornerstone Credit Union CEO Kevin Lukey.

Police have since provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. He is approximately 5'7" tall with a slender build, and "possibly" Caucasian. During the robbery, he wore blue jeans; black and white canvas deck-style shoes; a white, long-sleeved, collared, button-up shirt; gloves; and a balaclava. He fled the scene in a mid-1980s to early 1990s blue GM/Chevrolet regular cab pickup truck. The truck was clean on the front and dirty on the rear, with the word "Footlong" written in the dirt on the tailgate.

No further updates had been released between Friday and press time.

"We're obviously looking for any help that the public can provide," said Cpl. Clint Wikander of the RCMP.

Cornerstone CEO Kevin Lukey noted that the credit union reviews its emergency policies following any serious incident, but he believes the branch's employees handled the situation well.

"The police did their job, and we did ours. The good news is that what was supposed to happen in this kind of dire situation did happen."

Lukey said that counselling services have been made available to the employees working at the time.

Any information about the robbery can be reported to the Yorkton Rural RCMP at 786-4500.
