Mischief suspect chased

On Wednesday, April 20 at approximately 7:30 am, members of Kamsack RCMP were dispatched to a residence in Kamsack in regards to a mischief complaint. A female resident at this location had the window smashed out of her van and its tires slashed. Shortly after this, Kamsack members encountered the suspect operating a pickup truck at the Kamsack Co-op gas station. When members attempted to pull this individual over, the suspect drove away at a high rate of speed through Kamsack. Kamsack RCMP issued a notice to neighboring detachments to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.

At approximately 11:30 am, members of the Roblin, Manitoba RCMP detachment located the suspect vehicle on the #83 Highway south of Roblin. The suspect, who was standing outside the truck at the time, again attempted to flee. After a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest a loaded sawed-off shotgun was located in the truck.

Clinton Ducharme (37 years old) of Kamsack has been charged with numerous offences as a result of the investigations in both Kamsack and Roblin. These charges include mischief, resisting arrest, flight from police, impaired driving, dangerous driving, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breach of undertaking. Ducharme has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Dauphin Provincial Court on Tuesday April 26, 2011.

Scam targets businesses

The Yorkton RCMP have received various complaints of a specific scam that targets businesses. Businesses receive a letter or fax from YellowPage-Saskatchewan.com that requests information to advertise the company on their website. The fine print indicates that the company is also subscribing to registration in the YellowPage-Saskatchewan.com directory for two years at a cost of $119.00 per month.

The fax attempts to appear like a genuine YellowPages document; however, the YellowPages emblem will be reversed. Once a company responds to the fax, they will receive an invoice from YellowPage-Saskatchewan.com requesting payment of the yearly subscription fee of $1,428.00.

Please be on the lookout for any correspondence requesting this information from you or your company, and be sure to read all fine print prior to signing anything.
For any questions or information, please contact the Yorkton RCMP at 786-2400.
