Yorkton Municipal RCMP report that a 16-year-old male has been charged in connection to a long string of property crimes around the city.
The youth, whose name cannot be released, is facing 54 charges relating to a series of thefts from motor vehicles, mischief to vehicles and personal property, and break & enters to homes and garages. Thousands of dollars in damage are estimated to have resulted from the incidents, which occurred between September 1 and this month at locations throughout the city.
The 16-year-old was arrested over the weekend. He made his first court appearance on Monday, where he was held in custody until November 17 for a show-cause (bail) hearing.
The investigation into these incidents continues, says Sgt. Rob Laurent of the Yorkton Municipal RCMP, and police anticipate that additional arrests will be made.
The arrest is not related to a vandalism spree on October 11 that resulted in the arrest of four individuals accused of shooting out dozens of windows of residences, vehicles, and businesses.
