Two suspects are in custody charged with attempted murder following an armed robbery at a bar in the town of Quill Lake.
Delbert Nanaquetung, 25, of Fishing Lake, and Donovan Nanaquetung, 28, of Wadena, appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court April 27 on three counts of attempted murder and numerous other charges including armed robber, break enter and commit theft and mischief over $5,000.
The robbery occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on April 22. Investigators from Wadena RCMP said two adult males with faces obscured entered a bar in the hotel at Quill Lake one brandishing a rifle and the other a crowbar.
In an ensuing altercation, one of the suspects fired two shots into the ceiling then shot one adult male in the leg and another in the back.
The victims were transported to hospital via STARS air ambulance.
The suspects stole a case of beer and fled the scene in a half-ton pickup truck according to police.
Approximately an hour later the pickup, allegedly driven by Donovan Nanaquetung, crashed into a business in Watson, a town just 20 kilometres northwest of Quill Lake.
RCMP officers arrested on suspect at the scene and confiscated a gun. The other suspect fled the scene on foot, but was tracked down and arrested in a field outside Watson after approximately one hour.
The Nanaquetungs were remanded in custody by a Yorkton judge and are scheduled to appear in Wadena Court May 7.
