People in Yorkton Provincial Court cheered when they learned a man accused of driving a bulldozer into a house had been denied bail.
Ronald Edward George Fatteicher, 59, is facing 16 charges from two incidents. He appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court to apply for bail while awaiting trial. Those charges included two counts of attempted murder, two counts of uttering threats, four counts of mischief over $5,000 and one count of assaulting a peace officer.
Bail was denied on secondary grounds of concerns for the victim’s safety, as well as the fact that the newer charges show a clear violation of the conditions imposed on an earlier charge. While electronic monitoring was suggested as part of the bail conditions, Judge Ross Green did not believe it would be effective in this case.
Evidence from the case cannot be reprinted due to a publication ban.
The trial will take place in Esterhazy from January 29-31.
