Winners of the 2015 RCMP Bicycle Safety Week colouring contest for Yorkton grade three students were announced Saturday May 9, 2015, at the Canadian Tire store at Parkland Mall.
There were two winners, Kylee Horsman of M.C. Knoll School and Jack Jones of St. Paul’s School. The bikes were donated by Canadian Tire and all students participating in the contest and associated bike rodeos received a new helmet through the RCMP.
Yorkton RCMP organized Bike Rodeos at all city elementary schools to demonstrate safe riding practices. The colouring contest was open to all 260 grade three students in Yorkton.
“It’s great to see all these students take part in both the colouring contest and the bike rodeo as part of Bicycle Safety Week,” said Mayor Bob Maloney. “The bike rodeo teaches them safe riding practices and the importance of wearing a helmet,” he said.
This was the third consecutive year for both the bicycle rodeos and colouring contest. Four additional bicycles were awarded to rodeo participants by the RCMP.
