Bike touring for Heart & Stroke

Hundreds of people across Saskatchewan will be hopping on the SaskEnergy Heart & Stroke Big Bike this July on a mission to save lives.

Hundreds of people across Saskatchewan will be hopping on the SaskEnergy Heart & Stroke Big Bike this July on a mission to save lives. Community groups, corporate teams, and individuals in 14 communities across the province will be participating in 17 rides this upcoming month. It's all part of the Big Bike's summer tour to over 50 Saskatchewan communities to raise funds for research into heart disease and stroke that saves lives.

"The SaskEnergy Heart & Stroke Big Bike teams and those who are donating to the fundraiser are truly making a difference for Saskatchewan residents, including their families, friends and neighbours. Every dollar they raise helps to prevent and overcome the devastating effects of heart disease and stroke, one of the leading causes of death in Canada," says Heart and Stroke Foundation CEO Lucy Buller. "Our thanks to those who are riding and donating and to our provincial sponsor SaskEnergy for their support of this life-saving mission."

Thanks to the support of individuals and teams from across the province, the Big Bike has raised over $4.1 million for the Heart and Stroke Foundation since the event first rolled out in Saskatchewan. This year's goal is to raise $420,000 - funds that will support root-cause research for heart disease and stroke, as well as crucial education programs to help people learn how to protect their health. SaskEnergy is the major corporate supporter of this initiative.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation is making a difference. Continued support of research is the key to finding earlier ways to diagnose and better ways to treat high blood pressure, as well as heart disease and stroke.
