Birding symposium

Trees tell a story. In fact, trees tell many stories. That will be the message of Colin Laroque, the after-dinner speaker at Symposium, an event hosted by the Yellowhead Flyway Birding Trail Association in Saltcoats April 23. Laroque is a dendroclimatologist – dendro meaning trees and climatologist meaning a person who studies climate. His work demands that he is a biologist, a naturalist and a soil scientist as well. At the Symposium, Laroque moves from his role as scientist to become a storyteller, using trees as his book. For more information about the event, consult the YFBTA website.
