Jennifer Gibson from Weyburn was a long weekend visitor with friends, Terra and Shane Talbot, Ashalee and Riley. They did some snowmobiling in spite of the nippy temperatures. The February birthday party at the Hut was held on Feb. 23, the 4th Wednesday of the month. No one in attendance was celebrating a February birthday but that didn't stop the-smaller-than-usual gathering from enjoying the social afternoon and a lovely lunch.

John Talbot celebrated his 88th birthday at the Yorkton and District Nursing home on Feb. 27. Family enjoying birthday cake with him were Judy Talbot & Jeanette and Ed Boyechko of Esterhazy and Jim, Shane, Terra, Riley and Ashalee Talbot of Dubuc. Happy birthday from your Dubuc friends and neighbours, John.

Donald and Glenda Bell and Leona and Joe Kaczur recently motored to Wawota to attend the funeral of Donna Smulan who passed away at the age of 68 after a lengthy illness. Sincere sympathy to Donna's husband, Ken Smulan, who is a cousin to both Don and Leona and to the extended Smulan family members.

Stan and Lorraine Toth have just returned from a 7-day Caribbean cruise. They report having a great time. On the way home, they visited in Pinawa and Winnipeg MB with family. Welcome back to winter, folks!

Jean Allan from Maple Ridge, BC is back home visiting with sister, Donna and Al Legacy and other family in the area. She is staying with friends, Bev and Rienny Kulcsar of Yorkton. She was a Tues., March 1 visitor at coffee row catching up on local news.

Maureen and Dennis Toth have returned from a holiday in Creston, BC visiting their son, Dexter and Louise Toth. They report that there is snow and winter weather there as well.

Chris (Andersen) Topliss of Yorkton took her sisters, Lucille Stradeski of Grenfell and Vivian Talbot of Dubuc, on a trip to Alberta where they all stayed with another sister, Doreen and Bernard Kulcsar, of Delburne. They enjoyed visits with Chris's daughter, Charla, as well as nieces, Tarryn and Kelleigh Kulcsar, all of Red Deer. Doreen, Chris and Vivian also motored into Chestermere to see Marcia (Smulan) Smith and Albert Glendinging. Marcia is an elementary school friend who grew up with them in the Larson district SW of Dubuc. Needless to say, a lot of catching up was done but even with all the "hot air", the weather there was no warmer than it was here at home.

News has been received that Bob Simpson passed away at the age of 85 on Feb. 27, 2011 in a Winnipeg hospital. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, who is a resident in a Winnipeg nursing home, his son, Ian of Bredenbury and his daughter, Shannon of Winnipeg. The Simpsons lived in Dubuc in the 60's while Bob was manager at the Co-op Farm Service Centre. They often returned to visit after moving to Bredenbury where they lived until health issues made a move to Winnipeg necessary. Sympathy is extended to all Bob's family from Dubuc community friends.
