Bomb hoax at Moosomin school

On April 26 at approximately 12:10 pm, Moosomin RCMP and Fire Department responded to a bomb threat at McNaughton High School in Moosomin.

A note was found by a student in the school saying there was a bomb that would go off in 24 hours. Staff cleared the school during the lunch period and the school was locked down until the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit and Police Dog Services members were able to complete a sweep of the building. The nearby daycare and elementary schools were evacuated and neighbourhood residents adjacent to the school were notified of the threat as well.

Nothing was found in the sweep and the decision was made to keep the school closed past the 24-hour deadline.

Late that night, Moosomin RCMP received tip information that led to the arrest of two 15-year-old female students. Police have confirmed that the note was a hoax and this matter is still under investigation.

The RCMP and the South East Cornerstone School Division wish to reassure the public that this matter is being taken very seriously. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Moosomin RCMP at 306-435-3361.

The body of missing Fishing Lake First Nation woman Beverley Ann Cyr was located on April 30.

The remains of the 47-year-old were discovered in a body of water several kilometers downstream of where her vehicle was found submerged near Wadena on April 26.

The investigation into Cyr's death continues.

Cyr had been missing since April 25.

Southey/Strasbourg Detachment are still attempting to locate 16 year old Frankie-Anne Pinay of Cupar, Saskatchewan. She commonly goes by Anna Pinay. Police and her family believe she is driving/traveling in a grey 2007 Vue (SUV) with Saskatchewan plate 913 HVW. Police and family believe she does not have a large amount of money with her. Pinay's family believes she may have a large amount of change (loonies, toonies, quarters, dimes, etc.) that she is using for money. Family members have been using Facebook to broadcast this message.

Pinay was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, a blue and white hooded sweater with a zipper and pink or black Ed Hardy shoes. Pinay has two piercings on her bottom lip and a heart-shaped birthmark under her left arm. Pinay has a light complexion and brown eyes and is 5'3" tall.

RCMP and her family are concerned for her well-being. The family has had no contact with Pinay since the morning of April 23. Police have interviewed numerous friends and family members, completed an analysis of her computer and are completing an analysis of her cell phone, which she left behind. Hospitals in Saskatchewan and Manitoba have been checked along with addresses her family knows she visits or frequents.

The investigation shows that Pinay may be anywhere between Calgary and Winnipeg. She may be using an unknown alias and asking for financial assistance from others. We are asking all residents (urban and rural) between Calgary and Winnipeg along or around Highway 1 to look down the back alleys and look in old yard sites.

On April 22 at approximately 6:00 am, RCMP in Punnichy and local EMS were called to a single vehicle rollover that occurred three kilometers east of Punnichy on Highway 15. The vehicle was traveling eastbound and was located in the south ditch.

The vehicle involved in the collision had three occupants. One of the passengers, a 22-year-old male from Fort Qu'Appelle, was ejected from the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene. The other passenger, a 19-year-old male from the Muskowekwan First Nation, was transported to Hospital in Wynyard with non-life-threatening injuries; he was released from hospital after treatment. The driver, a 32-year-old female, was also transported to Wynyard Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was also released from the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, Marilyn Hunter, aged 32 from the Muskowekwan First Nation, is facing charges of Impaired Driving Causing Death. Hunter made an appearance in court on April 24 and the matter has been set aside for her next appearance on May 22 in Punnichy, SK. She has been released from custody.

Next of kin for the deceased has been completed. Family has not consented to the name being released at this time.

Over several days last week, the RCMP utilized a helicopter from K Division's flight services to aid in the search for Cody Wolfe and other missing persons from Southern Saskatchewan. On Thursday, the helicopter searched areas around the Punnichy and Kamsack area in an effort to locate any evidence in the following missing persons cases:

Cody Wolfe (last seen on the Muskowekwan First Nation in April of 2011)

Emily Osmond (last seen on the Kawacatoose First Nation in September of 2007

Willard Brass (last seen in the Kamsack area in May of 1993)

The helicopter is being used now, before the trees and spring growth in the search areas get too thick for any type of aerial search to be useful.
