A bomb threat at the Painted Hand Casino ended peacefully. Alex Brian Peepeetch, 41, pleaded guilty to one charge of providing a false message to cause harm.
On the evening of September 6, Peepeetch made a call to the Painted Hand Casino from the Kahkewistahaw Gas Station. He then ran to the casino, where he was taken into custody almost immediately.
Pleading guilty to the charge, Peepeetch was sentenced to 90 days in custody with a year’s probation. He was also prohibited from the consumption of alcohol or non-prescription drugs, as well as from visiting the Painted Hand Casino or Kahkewistahaw gas station.
Peepeetch also pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud. On three separate incidences, he deposited an empty envelope at a ScotiaBank ATM, before withdrawing $200 from his account. He has paid back $180 of this amount, and will pay $480 for restitution, as well as 45 days concurrent with the sentence for the bomb threat.
The defendant admitted that he has mental problems, and requested that he get personal and mental health counselling as part of his sentence. He said that he hears voices sometimes, and recognizes that there is something wrong which he needs to deal with.
“Who in their right mind would make a bomb threat?” Peepeetch asked the court.
