The transition from high school to a post-secondary institution is often a daunting task. Most students find it challenging to adapt. That's part of what makes Parkland College a preferred option for many young people who want to further their education and find a successful career. One example of the offerings at Parkland College is the SIAST Business - Year I certificate program. It provides a background of sound business training that enables students to pursue entry level positions as management trainees, administration assistants, or office support staff. Students can also pursue a business diploma by taking the Accountancy Specialty through Parkland College. Several universities, campuses and agencies recognize a number of the courses offered in the business program as transfer credit for Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), Certified General Accountant (CGA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and many more. "I chose Parkland College because it provided me with the courses I wanted to take in order to find a great career," said Business - Year I student April Trost. "It's a smaller college, which I love because you're able to receive more one-on-one time with the instructor. They're willing to help students reach their desired goals." That's a sentiment echoed by Trost's classmate, Sheri Sparvier. "I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and helpful instructors," Sparvier stated. "The best thing is the dedication the Parkland College team has with their students." The Business - Year I program runs full-time from late August to late April.
