In the world of business, a diploma is in demand. That’s why Parkland College is rolling out a new and improved Business program for 2016-17.

The one-year Business Certificate from Saskatchewan Polytechnic has long been a popular program at Parkland College. Many students find the certificate is a great way to get their foot in the door and start their careers. However, opting to take the second year of Business classes can open up a whole other world of possibilities.

“Talking with the business community in our region, a diploma is definitely in demand,” said Coordinator Connie Brown. “Grads will find they are eligible for more positions and advancement in their careers.”

The second year of Business at Parkland College has a new area of focus for 2016-17. Students completing the two-year program will graduate with a Business Diploma with Management Specialization. The diploma puts extra emphasis on leadership, conflict resolution, employee engagement, and strategic management.

Students who have already completed a Business Certificate may enroll directly in the diploma level. Other students may enroll in Year 1 of the program and, upon completion, may either graduate with a Business Certificate or continue by enrolling in Year 2 of the program in 2017-18 to complete the Business Diploma.

“Whichever road you take, you will graduate with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in the field of business,” Brown said. “You can work in administrative and supervisory roles with a wide variety of organizations, or you can venture out on your own and start the business of your dreams.”

Classes for both the Business Certificate and Business Diploma begin Aug. 29, 2016. Call or visit www.parklandcollege.sk.ca to find out how to start your career in business.
