The Grade 5 and 7 students of Yorkdale Central School have been working since last fall to create a "green space" at the front of their school using grant money from the World Wildlife Fund. Settling on a butterfly garden for their green space, the students have spent the school-year raising painted lady butterflies and preparing plants for the garden. On Monday afternoon, the butterflies were released and the Yorkdale Royal Garden was officially opened.
