CALDER - Annual poker derby set for March

We hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas and had a great New Years. The Calder Students did a wonderful job on their Christmas Concert again this year. The hall was full with families, community members and people from surrounding area.

The Calder Students did a wonderful job on their Christmas Concert again this year. The hall was full with families, community members and people from surrounding area. If you have never been to see the Calder School Christmas Concert, you should try to attend at less once, the Students and Staff do a wonderful job. Hope to see everyone there again next time.

The parents did a great job with supplying the dainties and coffee after the concert. Congrats to all the winners of the raffle prizes that were supplied by the parents.

Glen Pryslak from Kelowna, B.C., was home in Calder visiting with his mother, Judy Pryslak and his sister Debbie Pryslak of Yorkton. The family spent Christmas all together.

The Calder Seniors have been busy too. The following are the winners from the last few whist drives which are held at the Calder Good Neighbour Centre; Arthur Martinuk, Donna Fustey, Gerald Shymko, low went to Jusy Pryslak and Mary Sobkow. Pot of Gold winner was Gerald Shymko.

Judy Pryslak, Marjory Mankish, Arthur Martinuk were the winners of the last whist drive. Peter Wereschuk took low, and the pot of gold went to Marjory Mankish and Elmer Eftoda.

Gerald and Kin Shymko had their son, Warren Shymko and Stacy Shymko home for Christmas.

Margie Mankish had her daughter and son in law, Marianne and Harold Price and their children from Dryden, Ontario, home for Christmas.

Jean and Norman Rapchalk, Jason, Kim rapchalk and the boys, Nicole, Trevor, Layla, Kayla and Jack Rapchalk spent Christmas in Regina at Jean's brothers place.

The Calder students along with the teachers delivered a Christmas treat to all the residents in Calder before the Christmas break.

Lorraine Boehm had her brother, Jim Danylko, Elizabeth Glute, Joey Glute, Billy and Loretta and kids all over for Christmas.

Karen and Eddie Antony and family spent Christmas day in Togo with her parents Herb and Martha Harper.

The Calder Skating Ice is ready to go. Skating is on Friday nights and Sunday afternoon for free public skating.

The Calder Blues have been busy playing hockey, the next home game will be held on Jan. 15, 2014 at 8 p.m. at the Calder Community Rink. The Calder Blues will be playing the Roblin Ice Men, so come out and cheer on your local team and have a burger and cup of coffee.

These are all home games for the Calder Blues so mark them on your Calendar Jan. 29, Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 8, Feb. 12, Feb. 15, and Feb. 17.

The Calder Blues will be playing in the Roblin tournament and the MacNutt tournament this month too.

Congratulations goes out to Dave and Henrietta Korb on the safe arrival of their new granddaughter, Harper Rose. Proud parents are Abby and Derek Redekopp.

Congratulations to Terry and Joanne Marteniuk on the safe arrival of their first granddaughter. Proud parents are Kelly and Tammy Marteniuk and big brothers Quinn and Tanner.

Calling all snow machines and riders, the Calder Annual Poker Derby has been set for March 2, 2014 at the Calder Community Rink, registration will start at nine, all riders must be back at five o'clock, French toast and Sausage Breakfast starts at nine till noon, food will be available at half way point. So watch for posters for more details.
