Calder curlers at MacNutt 'spiel

Well, the month of February is almost gone. Time flies when you are having fun. A few people from Calder motored to MacNutt to watch some curling last week. The MacNutt Curling Club had a great turn out for their bonspiel.

Miles Antony and family from Winnipeg were out to take part in the bonspiel. Miles also brought along his Dad, Dave Antony also from Winnipeg.

Some of the guys from Morris Sales and Service are heading to Winnipeg to attend the Mac Don Service Schooling for a few days. The guys from the Calder area that are attending are Edwin Antony, Ron Bailey and Clayton Campbell.

Congratulations, Erin and Andrew Chase on the safe arrival of their new baby girl. Grandparents are Sherryl and Terry Kohanski of Churchbridge and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chase of Roblin, MB. Great grandparents are Nick and Margie Antony and Kenny and Vera Andrews.

The Calder Seniors held their Whist Drive on Feb. 12, 2011 at the Good Neighbours Centre. The following are the winners: 1st Virginia Wandy, 2nd Judy Pryslak, 3rd Arnold Balabak, low Marlene Miller. The Pot of Gold winners were Richard Zazalenchuk and Judy Pryslak.

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets from the Playschool Parents for our Valentines Draw. The winners of the Valentines Draw are 1st Tyler Eftoda, 2nd Ryan Andrews and Jody Baumung.

Calder Playschool students had their Valentines Party at the Calder Library. The students enjoyed the afternoon by going sledding on the school hill and having hot chocolate after we were finished on the hill.

Justin Fatteicher is eight years old, grandson of Harold Fatteicher and Walter Balabuck, parents Valerie (Balabuk) and Melvin Fatteicher. Justin has a spinal problem. Donations to the Justin Fatteicher Trust fund can be made at the Village of Calder, Calder Hotel, MacNutt Credit Union and Togo Credits Union. This donation will help with the travel expenses away from home and medical bills.

Remember that the Calder Poker Derby will be held on March 6, 2011. Breakfast will start at nine, registration at nine till noon at the Calder Community Rink. Come out and have some fun and bring your friends out too.
