The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the Provincial Candidates' Forum 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19 at the Gallagher Centre.
The Forum is a good opportunity for the residents of the Yorkton constituency to meet the candidates and hear their views on a variety of subjects.
Dolores Harris, President of the Yorkton Chamber, indicated that the Forum is an important activity for the Chamber. "Being politically unbiased, the Chamber is the right organization to provide this Forum," she said. "The Forum enables the community to meet t he candidates and to hear their answers to questions about the city and the province."
Ron Irvine, Chairman of the Chamber's Public Policy committee likes the format of the forum adopted by the Chamber. "Once each candidate has delivered his or her opening remarks, the Chamber will ask each Candidate to respond to the 4 questions we sent to them a couple of days earlier. Then questions will be taken from the floor," he explained.
Members of the audience who wish to pose a question will be given 2 choices. They can either write the question on one of the index cards provided at the door or they can address the candidates verbally.
The Moderator will draw the written questions randomly and invite each Candidate to respond to the question. A stationary microphone will also be provided for the audience to ask questions directly.
At the time of the release only 2 candidates have indicated they will participate in the Forum. The Forum will end about 8:30 p.m.
